
![]() Reem Abdelhamid is committed to serving vulnerable communities to ensure equitable access to healthcare, education, shelter, and livelihoods, contributing to social justice and addressing humanitarian issues related to climate change. She strives to match philanthropic interests with global humanitarian causes through bespoke relationships with reputable entities; to be a voice for those less heard; to help secure and deliver emergency relief and longer-term solutions; to bring together like-minded donors; and to create lasting partnerships that serve humanity. She nurtures private sector partnerships with shared value, catering to partners’ philanthropic needs while aligning with critical global priorities. Her experience with NGOs, INGOs, and NPOs spans over three decades. She has been involved in think tanks that addressed issues related to poverty alleviation, gender equity, human development, equal opportunities, and workshop and training delivery with governmental and private sector entities. She has also supported establishments in setting up governance and incorporating people and culture into their operational plans. She is a recurring speaker at international conferences on philanthropy and fundraising and a published author in a specialized magazine on resource mobilization. She was part of the founding team of the UNDP project “Egypt’s Social Fund for Development,” which set her up for a career in the Humanitarian, Emergency Relief, Communications, and Resource Mobilization sector. She worked at UNDP Cairo in the Sustainable Human Development Unit before relocating to Jeddah, where she worked at the Royal Norwegian Consulate General and simultaneously at Nordic Marine. She then joined the Help Center, a private NPO for persons with intellectual disabilities, before moving to the American University in Cairo (AUC) as the Regional Representative in Saudi Arabia to promote the university’s programs and activities and set up its alumni chapter. In 2013, she joined UNHCR as an Advisor on Arab and Islamic Philanthropy, then as Senior Advisor for PSP Global Strategic Partnerships to manage several high-value private philanthropists in MENA and South-East Asia. She led Philanthropy in North Africa, as well as External Relations, Private Partnerships, Public Information, and Communications at UNHCR in Egypt. Today, she leads Philanthropy and Partnerships in MENA for the WHO Foundation. She holds a BA in Journalism & Mass Communication (with a minor in Psychology) and an MA in Journalism Research & Mass Communication from the American University in Cairo (AUC) and has conducted post-graduate studies on Arab Philanthropy.
